General Electric scientists and engineers have devised computer software that quickly converts data from computed tomography X-ray scans into exceptionally sharp three-dimensional images of a patient's body.
In about five minutes, the software - produced by technical teams and the GE Research and Development Center in Niskayuna and at GE Medical Sytems in Milwaukee, Wis. - can reconstruct readings generated by up to 50 cross-sectional computed tomography (CT) scans and produce a crisp three-dimensional image.
