Hamstring puts a strain on Valentin

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Strained hamstrings are putting a strain onthe White Sox' infield.

Shortstop Jose Valentin had to leave in the fifth inning of a 6-5loss to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Thursday when he pulled up lameon a game-tying double.

"It's not feeling too good right now," Valentin said. "I'll comein early (today) for treatment. If I can't play, I'll rest becauseit's a long season."

Valentin was replaced on the basepaths by Greg Norton, who hasbeen nursing his own hamstring tug. No sooner was Norton on defenseat first base than he had to test the hamstring with a leaping catchof Dave Martinez's line drive.
